I pick my reed/mouthpiece choice to reflect the type of orchestral sound required.
For example, if I'm playing a show like Hairspray (a contemporary style musical),I might use a more jazz/rock saxophone setup as opposed to a more traditional sound for a show like Guys and Dolls.
